General Policies, Procedures & House Rules
At Salinity Cedar Key, we strive to provide our guests with an exceptionally clean, safe, and friendly hotel experience. The following Hotel Policy/House Rules have been established based on industry standards, management and operational procedures, and our personal experience of owning and operating the Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel. These Hotel Policy/House Rules are considered a part of our reservation agreement with you. As our hotel guest, by reading and signing our hotel registration you are agreeing to abide by all of our Hotel Policy/House Rules, terms and conditions, and procedures. These Hotel Policy/House Rules are presented here to help promote our guests’ safety and enjoyment and to ensure that each guest is aware of the understandings between Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel and the guest. Our Hotel Policy/House Rules may change from time to time, so please check back often. When you book with Salinity at Cedar Key, you are accepting to follow all of these rules, policies & procedures.
SMOKING-FREE
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel has been Smoking-Free since the opening in July of 2024. For safety and to assure that our facility is not exposed to items or actions that create an odor which is unhealthy and objectionable to our guests and staff, and that is difficult to remove from the air, carpet, walls, and furniture we do not permit smoking tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, e-cigarettes, vape pens, vaping, cartridges containing the liquid of nicotine, hookahs, incense, cooking, cigars, candle burning, the use or diffusing of patchouli oil or other strong-smelling plant-based essential oils or odorous synthetic products in our facility.
Guests are encouraged to notify Guest Services staff immediately if they smell cigarette, marijuana, or other objectionable odors. We only allow smoking on our property in one designated area, located on the East side of the deck adjacent to the inside marina. Please refrain from smoking within 30 feet of any door of the property, or on any of the wooden decks surrounding the property not within the designated smoking area.
CANDLE, INCENSE, ESSENTIAL OILS:
Candle, incense, essential oils (diffusing, vaporizing, etc.) are prohibited. These items and activities will be treated as smoking, a fine accessed, and the guest may be evicted with no refunds.
NO-COOKING, COOKING APPLIANCES, COMBUSTIBLES, OR FIREWORKS:
The safety of our guests, staff, and this facility is extremely important to us. Preparation of food in guest rooms by any type of additional cooking appliances not provided in the stay is prohibited. A minimum fee of $300.00 will be charged for cooking in a room, including, but not limited to hot plates, toaster ovens, water heaters, rice cookers, combustible, open flame, barbecue grill, burners, heating appliance, or any other item intended for cooking. Open fires, flames or cooking grills, either charcoal or gas, and fireworks are not allowed anywhere on hotel property.
GUARANTEED RESERVATIONS:
Guests must be 18 years and older to make a reservation, and each room needs at least one guest 18 years or older to stay in the room. Please make sure to receive a reservation confirmation number when you make a reservation. Reservations are subject to cancellation fee specified at time of booking. Reservations will be held until 4:00 pm. the afternoon following your scheduled arrival date. If you have not checked in by that time, a NO-SHOW charge of 50% of the total room rate, plus tax will be charged to your card on file at time of booking. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel is not responsible for weather conditions, personal emergencies, or schedule changes.

EARLY CHECK-IN
Early check-in is offered based on availability. If you require a guaranteed check-in for arrival before 3pm, a fee will apply.
CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS:
Guests must be at least 18 years of age to check in at Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel. In the interests of security and to prevent fraud, guests are required to confirm their identity by providing their valid government issued photo identification (State driver’s license, passport, etc.) at check-in. A credit card in the name of the guest registration is also required. It is your responsibility to fully understand the manner in which your bank processes pre-authorizations and charges to the card being used. Processing times of charges and pre-authorizations are based on your card processor, and vary. Please note that card pre-authorizations often show up on banking apps/websites as PENDING transactions. Pre-authorizations such as security deposits for stays will often show as PENDING through your banking institution and can take 24-72 hours to “fall off” once released by our system after your stay. Please let us know if you have a charge you need clarified or there is a discrepancy in your bill after your charges have CLEARED your banking institution.
GUEST REGISTRATION:
We require valid contact information from the guest making the reservations including first and last name, address, phone number, and acknowledgement of our general policies and house rules, as well as any information needed to process any additional services you requested. The names of all guests occupying the room must be registered.
CHECK-OUT TIME:
Room rental period expires at 11:00 a.m. Additional late checkout fee, up to a day charge, plus tax may apply for late checkout based on availability. Please contact guest services 24 hours in advance of your departure to arrange late checkout.
CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE:
Check-out time is 11 a.m. Please check-out with Guest Services so that housekeeping may begin cleaning your room as soon as possible. If you require a later check-out, please contact Guest Services prior to the day of your departure and we will do our best to accommodate your request but it depends on availability. A charge may apply for late check-out.
EARLY DEPARTURE:
We understand that things do not always go to plan and vacations are sometimes interrupted. Guests who check out of the hotel after 11:00 a.m. and prior to their scheduled departure date are subject to an early departure fee of one night, plus tax. This fee is subject to reason for departure at the discretion of Guest Services upon departure.
SPECIAL REQUESTS:
We will make every effort to honor special requests such as a specific room number, adjoining rooms, extra bed beds, etc. upon your arrival. All special requests are noted on reservations and we will do our best to accommodate. However, the availability of these items cannot be guaranteed in advance.
PAYMENT:
All reservations and registration must be guaranteed with payment. We accept all major card payments including American Express. All guests are required to present a valid form of payment upon check-in and a security deposit of $250.oo is preauthorized for all stays at time of check-in. We do not accept cash payment.

CHECKS AND CHECK CASHING:
We do not accept local checks for regular stays. We do not provide check cashing services.
DEPOSITS AND GUARANTEES:
There is deposit required to make an individual room reservation. However, valid mean of payment is required at the time of booking to guarantee the room and secure the reservation period.
RESERVATION AND PAYMENT FOR GUESTS BY PRIVATE THIRD PARTIES:
Generally, third party payment is not permitted. In the case of paying for a family member if you will not be physically present at the hotel, we must receive full payment of the intended stay including a copy of your ID, passport or driver’s license. You will be responsible for any and all damages and loss. We reserve the right to refuse reservation at any time for any reason.
PAYEMENT BY THIRD-PARTIES:
Please contact Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel reservation department at least 72 hours prior to guest’s arrival. We must set up alternate direct payment approval for your reservations prior to the guest’s arrival.
GIFT CERTIFICATES & PREPAID BOOKINGS:
Please contact the hotel directly to purchase or redeem gift certificates at the reservation department. You should receive unique booking instructions upon receipt of gift certificates and prepaid vouchers. These documents are available by contacting the hotel directly.
RATES:
All rates are quoted USD, plus tax. Rates may increase without notice. Rates as advertised on the Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel website or promotional material are subject to change at any time and may increase or decrease at the hotel’s discretion. Rates are based on bed type, occupancy, and view (Gulf or Marina) and are subject to availability.
RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE:
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel is privately operated. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason(s) and that does not violate Florida laws. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel has a zero-tolerance policy in which we will refuse to admit or refuse service or accommodation in our hotel or may remove a person, without refund, who refuses to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by management of the hotel. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel will refuse service or evict a guest: for refusal or failure to pay for accommodations, is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substance and acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests or is not in compliance with state liquor laws; acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests; is unable to properly supervise their children and pets at all times, seeks to use the hotel for an unlawful purpose; seeks to bring into the hotel: an unlawfully possessed firearm; or something, including an explosive or hazardous or toxic substance, that is unlawful to possess and that may be dangerous to other persons; destroys, damages, defaces, or threatens harm to hotel property or guests; causes or permits persons to exceed the maximum allowable occupancy of room, refuses to abide by the reasonable standards or policies established by Salinity at Cedar Key for the operation and management of our hotel.
QUIET HOURS:
11:00 p.m. to 8 a.m. If you become aware of a disruptive guest, please contact Guest Services staff immediately by room phone or in person. Televisions, voices, or other devices must be kept at a respectful low level at all times. Doors should be opened and closed quietly. No congregating or running in hallways or on the property.
VISITORS:
No visitors after 10:00 p.m.. Visitors must be accompanied by the registered guest at all times. Visitors are not allowed to use additional guest amenities including purchased services in or through the hotel or hotel Wi-Fi. As a registered guest, you are responsible for your visitor at all times.
CONNECTING ROOM POLICY:
Connecting rooms (room #3 Watery and #5 Seaside) are subject to availability and can only be booked directly through the hotel website. Please call the hotel directly to discuss available configurations once you have booked both rooms individually for the same time period.
PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICIES:
Direct Booking with our Website or Guest Services
A 25% deposit is charged at the time of booking. Full remaining balance due will be charged to the credit card given at time of booking 72 hours before check-in time of 3pm on the day of arrival. You have until 72 hours before check-in time of 3pm on the day of arrival to cancel for a full refund of your $75 deposit. Bookings cancelled between 72 hours and 24 hours of check-in will be charged a $75 deposit fee. Bookings cancelled within 24 hours will be charged 50% of the total stay’s room rates, with a minimum of one night charge.
OTA (Online Travel Agencies)
100% Payment is due for all room rates, additional products/services and applicable taxes at time of booking. You have until 72 hours before check-in time of 3pm on the day of arrival to cancel for a fee of $30.00. Bookings made within 72 hours or cancelled within 72 hours of check-in will be charged 50% of the total stay’s room rates, with a minimum of one night charge.
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel is not responsible for weather conditions, personal emergencies, or schedule changes. Reservations must be cancelled within the stipulated time frames based on your booking method to receive a refund. Cedar Key has a very unpredictable hurricane season. In the event of an impending hurricane, the regular cancellation policies will apply, unless/until a mandatory evacuation order is issued by state and/or local authorities. If an evacuation order is issued before your time of arrival and effects your stay, your entire booking will be refunded regardless of booking method. If an evacuation order is issued during your stay and effects a portion of your stay, your unused nights will be refunded regardless of booking method, Please allow up to 14 business days for the confirmation of the refund to be issued, as refunds may be delayed due to hurricane damage of hotel operating systems that may be needed to process the refunds.
NO SHOW CHARGES:
Failure to check in on the scheduled arrival date for a reservation guaranteed will result in a No-Show fee being charged. In the event of a no-show, your credit card on file at time of booking will be charged 50% of the total stay’s room rates, with a minimum of one night charge.
GROUP RESERVATIONS:
Large group/Block reservations must be cancelled three (3) weeks prior to arrival date. Reservations cancelled after that date may be charged one (1) full room charge plus tax for each room reserved and the balance of their reservations cancelled, unless they are cancelled within 72 hours of check-in, in which they will be charged 50% of the total stay’s room rates per room.
DO-NOT DISTURB AND ACCESS TO ROOMS:
Management reserves the right to enter a room after knocking and announcing needing entrance for reasonable purposes, such as an emergency, maintenance, to verify that the room, its furnishings, and mechanical equipment are intact, or to address or prevent a violation of our Hotel Policy/House Rules. In the event of suspected illegal activity, management reserves the right to summon law enforcement to aid in enforcement or eviction. The right to privacy ends when a Hotel Policy/House Rule is broken. Law enforcement will be granted immediate access to hotel property and rooms of evicted guests.
CHILDREN:
Well behaved children of all ages are welcome. Children aged 4 and under stay for free when sharing a room with one or more paying adult(s), using existing bedding. As the parents, guardians, or chaperones of children you are personally and legally responsible for and must supervise them at all times. For safety reasons, please do not leave children unattended in guest rooms or allow them to roam the hotel property unsupervised.
PETS:
We welcome well-behaved pets to stay with us! Cedar Key has many pet friendly bars and restaurants that offer dining on outside dining decks. Please be advised that dogs must be leashed at all times in public areas, and some pet-friendly establishments may have limited hours or availability or pet-friendly availability that is outside only, so please keep that in mind. Salinity at Cedar Key is located on Dock Street, with no access to pet relief areas for over 200 yards from the property. You are not allowed to let your pet relieve themselves on our property. The closest grassy areas for pet relief are located over the Dock Street bridge, approximately 200 yards away. You are responsible for cleaning up all pet waste during your visit. Not cleaning up waste, destruction of property, or disruption of other guests may result in removal from the property without refund. We have a strict policy on disruption and destruction, and there is a $250 fee for any disruption or destruction your unattended pet may cause during your stay.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY:
Room occupancy requirements are based on safety restrictions. Standard Room maximum occupancy is 2 for rooms with one bed, and 4 for rooms with 2 beds.
ROOM KEYS:
We are a keyless entry hotel. You will be sent a door code and room entry instructions to the email on file one hour before check-in time.
HOUSEKEEPING/ROOM INSPECTION:
This is a SMOKING – FREE hotel with a designated smoking area on the marina-side deck, Rooms are cleaned and inspected the day of arrival and the day of checkout. Additional service requests can be placed. Rooms are rented to guests in appropriate condition without any prohibited odor. Housekeeping and Guest Services staff are trained and skilled in identifying the odors from prohibited items. If our investigation concludes that you have smoked in your room, cooked, or brought a prohibited item into our facility, you will be fined, and evicted without any refund. A detailed log is maintained on each room with towels and linens provided, and missing and severely damaged towels and linens will be charged to the card on file within 72 hours if those items are missing.

ANY AND ALL Boken or Damaged items including, but not limited to tables, chairs, curtains, rugs, lamps, coffee machines, art work, light fixtures, microwaves, and hair dryers will be billed to the guest for the cost of replacement in addition to the $250 damage and incidental deposit.
LINEN CHANGING:
Your comfort is very important to us. In an effort to reduce costs associated with your stay, we do not provide daily room services or cleaning. For guests staying 10 or more nights, bed linen is changed on day 5 of the stay. Used towels are exchanged for fresh towels upon request. Please allow a few hours for towel and maintenance requests as the property is not staffed at all times. Please contact our Guest Services staff if you have any additional questions or concerns.
LOST & FOUND POLICY:
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings at any time or in any place on the property. We do not service rooms unless you have an extended stay with us, so our staff will not be entering your room without your knowledge. If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please contact Guest Services and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item.
FOUND ITEMS:
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel is not responsible for any item left behind by a guest. However, any item, with the exception of perishable items, left behind by our guests and found after departure by Housekeeping will be collected, logged in, and kept in a secure location for collection by the owner for up to fourteen (14) days. Records of Lost & Found items are retained for 6 months. Reasonable effort will be made to notify the guest that an item has found. Perishable items, food, drinks, undergarments and bathing suits, and miscellaneous toiletries are immediately discarded.
RETURN:
We would be happy to return your lost item(s) to you by USPS PRIORITY MAIL. You will be charged packaging and sending via card on file, plus a $5.00 service fee.. A separate receipt will be mailed to you. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel is not responsible for any item lost or misdirected during shipment by the postal service.
UNCLAIMED ITEMS/NO CONTACT:
Lost & Found items are held for fourteen (14) days while we attempt to contact the guest. If guest contact information is incorrect or cell phone mailbox is full and we are unable to contact the guest during the fourteen (14) day holding period, the unclaimed item(s) will be stored for 3 months. After this deadline the unclaimed item (s) are thrown away, given to local organizations, or disposed of accordingly by Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel.
ALCOHOL POLICY:
Registered guests of legal age who choose to bring their own alcoholic beverages must consume those in their room. Alcohol is not allowed in public areas, and Cedar Key does not have an open container policy of any kind. Any and all alcoholic beverages in public spaces that are not licensed alcohol vendors and/or are not sold in that establishment are strictly prohibited and subject to a fine by the Cedar Key Police.
NO FIREARMS AND WEAPONS:
The safety and security of our guests and staff is extremely important to us. Our Firearms and Weapons Policy is designed for the protection of our guests, vendors, staff, and owners, and pertains to the presence of firearms and weapons on hotel premises. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel recognizes that guests and vendors may legally possess firearms or weapons for a variety of legitimate purposes. This policy has been developed to create a safe environment by providing appropriate guidance over the prohibition of firearms and weapons on our premises. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel is private property. Guests, who are lawfully permitted to possess a firearm or weapon, but for safety reasons of our other guests and staff FIREARMS AND WEAPONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED IN THE COMPLEX.
BICYCLES AND MOTORBIKE:
Bicycles, Motorbikes are not permitted in guest rooms. We assume no liability for theft, loss, and/or damage, and you waive any and all such liability. Guests may park bicycles on the marina-side deck, but Salinity at Cedar Key is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR FIRE:
Please notify Guest Services in the event of a fire or other emergency. Two exit doors exist for the second floor, please check the fire safety plan located in your room for more details.
FIRE SAFETY POLICY:
The hotel is fully equipped with FIRE EXTINGUISHERS. Please check the fire safety plan located in your room for more details.
NO IN-ROOM PARTY:
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel enforces a No In-Room Party Policy to ensure we can protect the hotel and our guests at all times. No parties, loud disturbances and/or noise-nuisance are allowed or tolerated on these premises. In the event of a disturbance, one polite request (warning) will be given to reduce the noise. If our request is not followed, the guest will be asked to leave the hotel without refund. Registered guest(s) is responsible for all persons visiting. Non-Registered visitors are only permitted until 10:00 P.M. If found with more “people” not listed on the Guest Registration Form after 10:00 P.M. your stay will be considered a party. You will be ordered to vacate the premises without refund and may be subject to a Guest Compensation Disturbance Fee.
WiFi ACCESS:
Access to our WiFi is free for our registered guests and reglemented at some quotas. The WiFi signals are subject to change without notice depending on the room’s location, the status of our WiFi-equipment, and interference from other local wireless signals. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel assumes no liability for guest use.
ENFORCEMENT:
All staff is trained and required to respond to potential violations of our Hotel Policy/House Rules. Guests who refuse to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel for the safety of all guests, staff, owners, property and the operation and management of the hotel will be evicted, with no refund. In addition to the room charge, a minimum $250 cleaning fee per room will be charged for infraction(s) of our Hotel Policy/House Rules.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel makes its best efforts to ensure that all the information that appears on its website is accurate. However, no warranty, expressed or implied, is given that the information provided on this website is error-free. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel does not accept liability for any errors and/or omissions and reserves the right to change the information published at any time and without notice.

ILLNESS AND EPIDEMICS:
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel reserves the right to refuse accommodations to a guest arriving with a contagious disease. In cases where sickness occurs during the stay, please notify the Guest Services staff. In the case of serious sickness, you may be requested to receive appropriate health care from a nearby healthcare facility. During epidemics, we are entitled to employ precautionary measures within our judgment or as required by local authorities. We may charge you a room cleaning fee as we deem appropriate under the circumstances.
INFESTATION:
The cleanliness of our rooms is extremely important to our guests. If you bring any infestation into your room or onto our hotel premises, we may charge you for any and all costs and expenses, including immediate or urgent response requirements and loss of room revenue, that we deem necessary to address the infestation. This includes flea infestations for pet-friendly rooms.
PARKING AT OWN RISK:
All vehicle(s) must parked in public areas in accordance with all City of Cedar Key parking code enforcements. Parking on Dock Street in marked areas is free for vehicles. All vehicles are parked at the risk of the owner. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel shall not assume liability or responsibility for any vehicle, occupants, or contents while operated or parked near the hotel property. Boats, RVs and recreational trailers are not allowed to park on Dock Street. Vehicles are not allowed to park on the “brick paths” designated as pathways on the street in front of the hotel. Please follow all marked signs when parking. If you need additional parking for an RV or Boat/Trailer, additional parking on the island can be provided for an additional fee. Please contact Guest Services to arrange any paid parking services you may need.
DAMAGE AND/OR THEFT OF HOTEL PROPERTY
You are liable for any damage howsoever caused (whether by the deliberate, negligent, or reckless act) to the room (s), hotel’s premises or property caused by you or any person in your party whether or not staying at the hotel during your stay. Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel reserves the right to require a minimum deposit of $250 pre-authorized on the card given at check-in and charge such amounts as it shall in its sole discretion deem necessary to compensate or make good the cost or expenses incurred or suffered by Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel as a result of the aforesaid. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the Hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, guest compensation, etc. We will make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting specialist to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.
DAMAGE DISCOVERED AFTER CHECK-OUT:
Guest Rooms found with damaged or stolen items, have waste strewn around, in complete disorder, and/or “trashed” will be subject to maintenance deep cleaning fee, administration fee and/or third-party fees.
DAMAGE TO ROOM:
Damage to rooms, fixtures, furnishing and equipment including the removal of electronic equipment, towels, artwork, etc. will be charge at 100% of full and new replacement value plus any shipping and handling charges, plus $250 damage deposit. Any damage to hotel property, whether accidental or willful, is the responsibility of the registered guest for each particular room. Any costs associated with repairs and/or replacement will be charged to the credit card of the registered guest. In extreme cases, criminal charges will be pursued.
DAMAGE TO MATTRESSES AND BEDDING:
Damage to mattresses and linen including; towels, mattress pads, sheets, bedspreads, blankets resulting from the use of body oils, make-up, shoe-polish, etc. will result in a charge for the special cleaning, repair or replacement of the damaged article.

DAMAGE OR TAMPERING WITH FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS/FIRE-FIGHTING EQUIPMENT:
Salinity at Cedar Key Hotel reserve the right to take action against any guest or visitor found to have tampered equipment throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, break glass points and fire extinguishers. Guests or visitors found to have tampered fire-fighting equipment will be charged with any costs incurred by the hotel due to their actions and will be evicted from the hotel. Depending on the severity of the guest actions, law enforcement may become involved at the hotel’s discretion. Should the fact that fire-fighting or detection equipment had been tampered with come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge your deposit for damage for any that incurred to your room or the Hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, guest compensation, etc.
CHANGES OR MODIFICATION TO THE HOTEL POLICY/HOUSE RULES:
Salinity at Cedar Key reserves the right to amend, modify, change, cancel, vary or add to these Hotel Policies/House Rules or the arrangements and content featured on our Hotel website at any time without prior notice.
